Let’s clear this up right away: GOLF doesn’t actually stand for anything. It’s just a word—one that likely came from the Dutch word “kolf”, meaning club. But there’s an old joke that refuses to retire: that GOLF stands for “Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden.” Yeah… not even close to true. Funny? Maybe. Accurate? Not at all.

Women have been a vital part of the sport for generations—playing, coaching, leading, and growing the game in every direction. Legends like Annika Sörenstam and today’s stars like Rose Zhang are proof that golf isn't just for guys in khakis. The women’s game is thriving, and it’s bringing fresh energy, younger audiences, and serious talent to courses around the world.

In the end, golf isn’t about who it was supposed to be for—it’s about who shows up, who plays with passion, and who keeps coming back. So whatever GOLF means to you, just make sure it includes everyone.
